CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Temperatures are expected to rise to the teens and 20's with some sunshine on Sunday after bitter cold wind chills dropping below zero Saturday night. However, freezing rain is expected to develop Monday night.
Sub-freezing ground temps may allow for ice to accumulate on roads and sidewalks. The National Weather Service warns of slippery surfaces and impacts to commutes.
Flurries are also expected turn to a "wintry mix Monday afternoon followed by waves of rain Tuesday through Thursday", NWS says. Temperatures will continue to go up throughout the with highs in the 30's.
The mix of snow, sleet and rain will also continue Tuesday accumulating about an inch, according to AccuWeather.
