FLOSSMOOR, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A lawsuit has been filed on behalf of a teenage girl who says she was sexually assaulted by a classmate at Homewood-Flossmoor High School.

The 17-year-old student said it happened during theater class at the end of October.

She and a male student were sent to a closed room to rehearse when she said the boy pulled out a knife and sexually assaulted her.

Her mother spoke to CBS 2.

"During class...so my first reaction was furious, because where is the teacher

The lawsuit alleges there had been unwanted advances by the boy in front of the teacher and nothing was done.

It says the girl reported the alleged assault immediately and was held for several hours in the school nurse’s office.

No criminal charges have been filed. The lawsuit names the teacher, principal and district as defendants.
