There was a deadly hit and run last night on the city’s South Side and police are still looking for the driver.
The hit-and-run happened on Ashland Avenue between 94th and 95th Streets in the Brainerd neighborhood about 6:20 p.m. Thursday night. Police say a man was pushing a 56-year-old wheelchair-bound man when a white 2007 Chevy SUV hit them both.
The man in the wheelchair survived and was reported in serious condition. The other man was killed, his body found several blocks north on Ashland.
"I’m just going to encourage this individual to just turn yourself in ‘cause it’s probably will be a matter of time. You know, with all the surveillance that’s out here, you never know which surveillance camera got a good look at you and your vehicle," activist Andrew Holmes told CBS-2.
The Chicago Police Major Accidents Unit is investigating.
