(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The White Sox are welcoming the Savannah Bananas to Chicago next season.
The team that’s known for its choreographed dances and trick plays announced it will play at Guaranteed Rate on August 15 and 16.
The games are part of the team’s world tour that will bring its silliness to New York, Boston, Philly and more than a dozen other locations.
Owner Jesse Cole said while it’s not Comiskey, he’s excited to visit the home of the White Sox. The team once owned by his inspiration Bill Veeck.
“I looked up to him tremendously. One of the most fan-first owners ever involved in sports,” Cole said.
Cole was a fan of the master promoter, who brought plenty of stunts to Comiskey including making a little person a designated hitter.
White Sox season ticket holders will have access to suites and premium seats.
For standard seats, fans must sign up for the lottery on the Bananas website.
Cole says there are already 2 million fans signed up across the country, with Chicago in second place in terms of demand.
