CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Several hundred people, mostly members and supporters of the U.S. Palestinian Community Network, marched throughout Chicago Sunday afternoon, protesting the recent Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Chicago joined a list of several other major U.S. metropolitan cities this weekend in holding rallies opposing firefights between Gaza and the Israeli government.

Those at the rally called for a ceasefire and negotiations.

One attendee, a young man living in Chicago, was born in East Jerusalem and now hopes his activism here will lead to safety for his family that remain abroad.

"We had to come here and find a new life. and that's it. Now, we just hope to fix all of it for just the rest of the family that's there. That's all we can do. Just hope for someone just to listen. We're just gonna scream the rest of the night for someone to just hear us and that's the whole mission.Just for someone to hear us," he told WBBM.

Members of the U.S. PCN said that they have contempt for President Joe Biden's apparent greenlight for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's deadly attacks.

They believe any action from Palestinians is done in the practice of self-defense as they are also faced with small citizen groups including landlords attempting to violently eject Palestinians from their homes in East Jerusalem neighborhoods.
