The Illinois Tollway has deployed what it calls "Hot Weather Patrols" to help drivers who encounter problems during the heatwave.
The 24-hour patrols search for drivers stranded in disabled vehicles in the extreme heat.
Illinois Tollway officials said there will be a minimum of 12 patrols in addition to the Highway Emergency Lane Patrol (HELP) trucks who work the system all the time.
HELP trucks run between 5 a.m. and 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, on the Illinois Tollway, and the Hot Weather Patrols will run 24/7.
Patrols will help if motorists need to get out of the heat. If a driver wants, patrols will transport them to a Tollway maintenance garage or oasis.
If you need help on the Tollway, use your cell to call *999, and put your emergency lights on.
