(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — On Saturday around 11 a.m., officers responded to the 3400 block of Pandola Avenue for a report of a woman being stabbed in the street.
When officers arrived, they discovered a 35-year-old woman with multiple stab wounds to her chest in the street.
A 32-year-old man was lying in a nearby driveway and he also had multiple stab wounds to the chest.
An investigation revealed the man was an estranged husband of the woman. Police also said the man arrived at the woman's residence and a disturbance followed.
This reportedly caused the woman to run from her house, where their 3-year-old child was. It is believed that the man chased her with a kitchen knife and proceeded to stab her multiple times when he caught up with her in the street.
Witnesses reported that the man then stabbed himself in the chest multiple times.
Both the man and woman were taken to a local hospital where they were pronounced dead.
Officers recovered the knife used.
The child was not harmed and Children and Family Services was contacted by police.
Police continue to investigate the incident.
