Judge releases accused Mount Greenwood restaurant attackers

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Attorneys for four men facing felony charges for a fight with employees and the owner of a pizza restaurant in Mount Greenwood early Sunday morning say the charges are unwarranted.

It was about 1 a.m. at Barraco’s on 111th Street.

Prosecutors said the four men, each 20, were drunk and were asked to leave.

A scuffle broke out with employees and the owner Nick Barraco. He’s 61.

Prosecutors said he was repeatedly punched and hit his head on the floor, suffering a skull fracture and bleeding on the brain.

Those charged are Andrew Fedyk of La Grange Park, Harry Kenny of Glen Ellyn, Frank Paris of River Forest, and John Powers IV of Oak Park.

They claim security guards,  including an off-duty police officer,  were the aggressors.

CBS-2 reported an attorney representing Powers played cellphone video in court, and the judge said it contradicts statements made by witnesses.  He ordered them freed.

They’re due back in court next week.
