WAUKEGAN, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Lake County Sheriff’s office said allegations that female courthouse employees were told to disrobe while going through security earlier this week are unfounded.
It was reported that multiple female employees complained about having to remove their tops before going through metal detectors at the courthouse.
At the time, Lake County Sheriff’s Department Chief of Staff Anthony Vega spoke to CBS 2 saying, “The allegations included that female employees were asked to remove a button-down blouse...We take allegations very seriously."
Now Vega said it did not happen. He told the Daily Herald, after reviewing hours of surveillance footage, including multiple angles of the security checkpoints, there were no instances of women removing their tops.
"Any specific complaint about being asked to remove a blouse was not relayed to us directly. It was third party through the media," Vega told the Daily Herald. "We hope that in the future any person who has concerns or questions about the screening process reaches out through the appropriate channels so that we can adequately address them in partnership."
