BUFFALO GROVE (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The last weekend of summer brought out lots of people to Buffalo Grove Days this past Labor Day weekend.
"What happened to summer? It's gone," said one woman at the festival.
Some of the families here at Rylko Park came out for the inclusive fair that allowed children with special needs to have their own time at the carnival. There was also music and a classic car show that caught the eye of Roz Wagner who's visiting from Florida with her adult son.
"It was fun to see a car the same year that we brought him from the hospital in, and it looks totally dangerous now. Well there were no seatbelts then, and some of the exhibitors are so clever with how they're showing the car," Wagner said.
Rebecca and her husband John brought their daughter Josie, who is deaf, for the inclusive fair that allowed children with special needs and their families to get first crack at the rides and eat some free food .
"Typical developing things that normal people would do and having their routine in their lives, families like us can't and so having something like this available and reaching out to our extending communities…It's a place where we can come and socialize and meet up," Rebecca said.
During the five day festival there was also a bingo night, community blood drive, family fun walk and pancake breakfast that raised money for victims of the Highland Park 4th of July shooting.
