CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — After several months away, a familiar, friendly voice is coming back to 93 XRT.
“Your best friend in the whole world” is back.
“I’m going to click on the microphone, I’m going to say something poetic and then I’m going to go into 20 minutes of music,” said 93 XRT's Lin Brehmer.
Brehmer will make his return to XRT next Monday at 10 a.m while he continues to undergo the chemotherapy that prompted him to step away from the station in July 2022.
“Between the therapy of listening to music and sharing music, and the therapy of reaching out to people, asking them to be my best friend in the whole world, the outcome can only be positive,” Brehmer said. “Positive in terms of what it means for me personally, and what it means to some of the people who have been listening to me for many years.”
He called the reaction to the news of his return “overwhelming,” and said he’s looking forward to finally getting a chance to answer the question he’s gotten the most in recent months: “How are you doing?”
“It’s all there for you on Lin’s Bin, Monday morning at 11:15 and 6:15.”
XRT’s Marty Lennartz announced Brehmer’s return Tuesday morning.
“When Lin signed off … he asked only for your love and your support,” Lennartz said. “Man, did you come through. The outpouring of encouragement from XRT listeners has been nothing short of incredible, so while Lin’s chemotherapy continues, he’s feeling good enough to get back.”
