CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Lincoln Park Zoo is reporting the deaths of two animals from the bird flu.

Lincoln Park Zoo says testing has confirmed that "highly pathogenic avian influenza,” the bird flu, was the cause of death for a Chilean flamingo and harbor seal in the past week.

The Flamingo named Teal hatched just this past fall.

Slater the seal was 7-years-old.

Lincoln Park Zoo says these are the first known cases of bird flu in animals at the zoo.

The zoo says visitors are not at risk, but some bird species will remain behind the scenes and the McCormick Bird House will be closed until further notice.
