(670 The Score) — After a sensational run at Loyola University-Chicago, Porter Moser is leaving town for a new job.
Moser has agreed to a deal to become the new coach of the Oklahoma Sooners, according to multiple reports Friday afternoon.
Joe Henricksen of the City/Suburban Hoops Report first reported the news.
Moser, 53, coached Loyola for the past 10 seasons, compiling a 188-141 record (.571) while leading the Ramblers to three regular-season Missouri Valley Conference titles.
Loyola’s best season under Moser’s watch came in 2017-’18, when it went 32-6 and advanced to the Final Four.
Moser and the Ramblers are just coming off another strong season, which helped lead to his new opportunity with the Sooners. Loyola went 26-5 and won the Missouri Valley regular-season and conference tournament titles before advancing to the Sweet 16.
The Oklahoma job opened after Lon Kruger recently retired. The Sooners are coming off a 16-11 season that ended with a loss in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
