A 39-year-old Joliet man is facing multiple felony charges after police say he forced his way into an apartment and attacked his pregnant spouse late Tuesday night.

Joliet police said officers were called to an apartment on North Bluff Street around 11 p.m. for a report of a domestic disturbance.

Investigators allege Thomas Love pushed his 22-year-old pregnant spouse to the ground and strangled her after entering the apartment. Police said a 60-year-old man inside the residence was also attacked during the incident.

Authorities said the pregnant woman intervened by stabbing Love in the head with a small screwdriver. Police allege Love then pushed her to the ground again and stomped on her stomach.

Both Love and the woman were taken to a hospital for treatment. While in custody, Love is also accused of pushing a responding officer.

Love has been charged with home invasion (class X felony), aggravated battery to a peace officer, aggravated domestic battery, aggravated battery – pregnant person, aggravated battery person 60 years of age or older, and criminal trespass to state supported land.

Thomas Love is being held at the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
