A man who was arrested at O’Hare International Airport apparently trying to board a flight is facing first-degree murder charges for stabbing a woman to death over the weekend in the Albany Park neighborhood, according to Chicago police and sources.
Ankur Patel, 31, is accused of stabbing a 32-year-old woman inside an apartment in the 4800 block of North Avers Avenue around 1:45 a.m. Sunday, Chicago police said.
The woman, whose name hasn’t been released, was found unresponsive in the apartment hallway next to the bathroom, according to a police report obtained by the Sun-Times. She suffered a stab wound in the neck and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Patel was arrested while going through security at O’Hare International Airport nine hours after the incident happened, according to police and sources.
Patel was scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
