(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – A 25-year-old Glendale Heights man is being held without bond for allegedly sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl after entering a home over the weekend, authorities said.

Carlos Espinales-Guevara is accused of entering the home in Glendale Heights early Sunday and going to the girl’s bedroom, where authorities say he sexually assaulted her. When family members found Espinales-Guevara in the home, they removed him and called 9-1-1, officials said.

Police found Espinales-Guevara nearby and took him into custody. He was charged with one count of predatory criminal sexual assault and one count of home invasion, both Class X felonies.

On Monday, DuPage County prosecutors said bond had been denied for Espinales-Guevara.

“These allegations are beyond disturbing and will be met with the full force and effect of the law. Our children are our most vulnerable and it is incumbent upon us to protect them from those who would do them harm,” State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said in a prepared statement.

Espinales-Guevara is next expected in court on Aug. 31.
