CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Mayor Brandon Johnson Monday addressed the controversy surrounding his now-fired longtime friend and communications director Ronnie Reese.

There had been a number of allegations made by staffers against Reese: misogyny, racism, sexual harassment. One said he referred to himself as “untouchable.”

The allegations were detailed in reporting by the Chicago Tribune and Crain’s Chicago Business, following FOIA requests that produced documents.

“The system that I inherited established a process that did not provide full disclosure of everything that was in that personnel file until there was a FOIA request,” the mayor told reporters.

He said his administration does not tolerate the type of behavior that’s alleged.

Reese said in a statement, “I strongly and unequivocally deny any allegations of wrongdoing.”
