
CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Riders on Metra’s Union Pacific-West Line continue to experience extensive delays this morning following an earlier construction incident.
At around 4 a., Metra announced a temporary suspension of the UP-West service due to a construction that spilled onto the tracks at the Berkeley station. Initially, the transit agency estimated the inspection and repairs to take up to three hours.
Service was restored a little after 5:30 a.m., however trains were still running with significant delays, some as much as 40 minutes behind schedule at one point.
As of 7:20 a.m., trains were delayed by 20 to 25 minutes.
