(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — If you have the space and the money, you can own a train that once delighted kids and adults at a suburban amusement park.

Kiddy Town in Norridge is long gone. The amusement park on Harlem Avenue north of Irving Park Road closed in 1964. The land is now a shopping center.

But one artifact remains: the miniature passenger train that used to carry kids and adults around the property. And it's for sale.

The American Heritage Railroad at the Farm Heritage Museum in Southern Illinois discovered the train and some track in a barn two years ago. Volunteers started to restore the train, but are too busy with other miniature train sets.

So, now the train is for sale on Facebook Marketplace. The train itself is going for nearly $40,000; 3,600 feet of 16-inch gauge track will cost an additional $10,000.

Railroad president David Kessinger said the train has already generated interest from potential buyers.

Miniature Train Co. in Rensselaer, Indiana made miniature train sets in the 1940s and 1950s. They would end up at places like zoos and amusement parks across the U.S., Kessinger said.
