(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The story of the Pinball Wizard keeps rolling at the Goodman Theatre for the next few weeks.

“The Who’s Tommy The Musical” -- a stage adaptation of The Who’s celebrated 1969 rock opera, which became a hit film in 1975 -- runs through Aug. 6 at the Loop venue.

The saga of a childhood trauma survivor who becomes a pinball sensation and religious savior features Who staples like “I’m Free,” “See Me, Feel Me,” and, of course, “Pinball Wizard.”

Roger Daltrey’s portrayal of lead character Tommy Walker still looms large in popular culture. But lead actor Ali Louis Bourzgui said he wanted to put his own spin on the role.

To do this, he immersed himself in the band’s history.

“Getting to do this project has really made me dive head first into The Who’s archives and watch all their videos and listen to every album and every single they ever came out with. So, now I’m a huge fan,” he tells WBBM Newsradio’s Lisa Fielding.

Back in 1993, the original musical version of the show won five Tony Awards.
