Morgan Park neighbors accuse woman of putting poison-laced hot dogs in yard for dogs to eat

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A Morgan Park woman has received a warning from the city after neighbors claim she’s been trying to poison dogs.

The woman, according to her neighbors, put what they believed to be poison in hot dogs that were left in her yard and the parkway in front of her home. The neighbors allege the woman put the hot dogs there deliberately for dogs to eat.

The "poison" was described as a blue substance. Residents told CBS 2 they first saw the hot dogs laced with the blue substance in January.

Ald. Matt O’Shea, 19th Ward, was contacted.

“We were contacted here in the 19th Ward office,” Ald. Matt O’Shea told CBS 2. “Obviously a very serious allegation; obviously very disturbing,”

He then called police and and Chicago Animal Care and Control.

Acting Chicago Animal Care and Control Director Mamadou Diakhate paid the woman a visit.

“There was just an allegation of poisoning, and we’re out here investigating,” he said.

When CBS 2 went to investigate and speak to the woman, she said, “Please get off my property.”

No evidence of poisoned hot dogs was found.

Signs were going up reminding people to clean up after their pets.
