CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Those who experience workplace misbehavior often don’t want to address their harasser directly and at the same time don’t feel comfortable going to human relations, and Chicago-based nonprofit The Wolf and the Bee hopes its latest service can help.

The product is called BeeMail. For $25, an anonymous email is sent to workplace harassers letting them know about their misconduct.

“It's a direct but generic email that provides tools to the recipient, the person who is perpetrating that misconduct, for them to assess their behavior as well as how to rectify and resolve that behavior,” said The Wolf and The Bee cofounder Sandy Lisonbee.

The goal is to normalize the behavior of addressing issues like boundary crosses when they're small.

“Most people experience things slowly and in small doses at first, and then it builds,” added Lisonbee. “So we're hoping to help people address this issue earlier, while it is manageable and lower risk, so that they don't have to go to HR.”

In cases where human relations involvement is required, the BeeMail serves as documentation and positions the sender as a problem-solver — not a problem.

The Wolf and The Bee also provides conflict resolution tools to the BeeMail sender so both parties can work together to find a resolution.

“We're not here as judge, jury and executioner. We're really here to facilitate recognition of a problem and then facilitate that conflict resolution so that people can continue to work together without risking their livelihood or their jobs or disciplinary action.”
