(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Your next trip to an Illinois DMV may be your easiest and quickest one yet.
West suburban Plano was the first Illinois DMV facility to get a makeover.
It’s part of Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias’ new “One-Stop-Shop” design, with facilities offering both vehicle and driver services at a single service counter.
“For too long customers have been required to follow an illogical path through the state’s DMV facilities. My administration used data to determine the most efficient paths for customers in order to cut down on confusion and save time,” Giannoulias said.
The single counter will offer everything from REAL ID applications and driver license renewals to license plate ordering and joining the Illinois Organ and Tissue Donor Registry.
The revamp will be coming to all Illinois DMV facilities in the coming months.
The Secretary of State’s Office will prioritize the rollout of the new setup after an assessment of all current facilities.
