ORLAND PARK, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A Life Time fitness location in suburban Orland Park was evacuated after a fire broke out at the health club Friday.
Crews responded about 7:20 p.m. to the blaze at 16333 LaGrange Road and found smoke coming from back of the building near the locker rooms, according to village spokesman Ray Hanania.
Firefighters located the fire in a void in the first-floor ceiling below the second floor, Hanania said. This area was above the sprinklers and smoke detectors.
Crews extinguished the blaze after upgrading the response due to the size of the building and a large amount of smoke, Hanania said.
Investigators determined the fire was a result of lint build up from dryers, Hanania said.
No injuries were reported, and the health club is closed for repairs, Hanania said.
