NORTHBROOK, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A north suburban woman bought a vowel and helped a Chicago charity at the same time.
Bonnie Romniak of Northbrook was one of the contestants on Chicago week on Wheel of Fortune.
She faced off against two other contestants from the area in a show that was taped in California in September but aired last Tuesday.
The Daily Herald reports that Romniak's son is developmentally disabled and lives in the Misericordia Home in Chicago, a non-profit that takes care of individuals with developmental disabilities.
She used the Wheel of Fortune handheld game that her son played in the 90's as part of her audition video.
"When I did my video I held up this game and I told them that, and I said my son plays this game every day. Wouldn't it be great if he could see his mom on 'Wheel of Fortune'?", she told the Daily Herald.
Romniak won $9,800 on the show and donated the winnings to Misericordia.
