Obama Foundation seeks emerging young leaders for training program, but applications close Feb. 9

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- There is just one week left for activists and advocates to apply for The Obama Foundation’s Leaders program.

Michael Strautmanis, the foundation’s executive vice president, said the goal of the program is to help advance those he calls emerging leaders, ones who already making an impact in their communities.

Since 2018, The Obama Foundation has worked with some 800 emerging leaders in 100 countries. The U.S. program is only a couple years old.

Applications for the program, a six-month course, close on Friday Feb. 9. Applicants must be between 24 and 45 years old.

The Obama Foundation and its many programs will be discussed on this weekend’s edition of “At Issue,” which airs 9:30 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. Sunday.
