CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Some international travelers at O’Hare Airport will notice a change starting Tuesday with the airport’s Global Entry kiosks.

It’s a high-tech upgrade aimed at addressing security and environmental concerns.

Instead of issuing paper tickets, officials said the kiosks will now rely on facial recognition technology.

Leaders with U.S. Customs and Border Protection said the changes will enhance security, reduce physical touch points, expedite the traveling process and help the environment by ditching paper receipts.

Applications for the Global Entry program are being accepted online.
