One dead, 2 injured after vehicle hits bus stop and veers into parking lot

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Police in Calumet City say one man is dead and two other people injured after a vehicle crashed into a bus stop and then veered into a parking lot Thursday afternoon.

Calumet City Police said it was about 2 p.m. when a driver crashed into a bus stop at Sibley Boulevard and Torrence Avenue.

Two people at the bus stop were hit. The vehicle kept going and hit a construction worker in a parking lot, officials said.

One of the three — a man — was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police in Calumet City say a man and a woman were taken to hospitals.
