ORLAND PARK, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Memorial Day honors locally for the service members who gave all.
The village of Orland Park on Monday paid tribute to the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice serving our country.
The Ara Pace – Place of Peace, located outside of Orland Park Village Hall was dedicated in 1995 and serves as a memorial to local veterans some who gave all in battles around the globe.
It is here this Memorial Day hundreds gather as a flag blows in the wind to a 21 rifle volley salute and taps are played by bugler Allen DeNormandie, U.S. Navy Veteran.

This year 55 names were read and added to the memorial's granite wall, the most in 26 years.
"We are honored to pay tribute to the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice serving our country," said Orland Park Mayor Keith Pekau. "We are grateful for their sacrifices and the sacrifices of their family members, and look forward to gathering as a community for this poignant remembrance event."
