NAPERVILLE, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Naperville Police Department identified one source of a threat made against Naperville North High School, after a series of threats have disrupted the school.
In a board meeting Monday, District 203 superintendent Dan Bridges said a juvenile from out-of-state was identified as the source of Friday's threat against Naperville North.
Only a couple days later, on Monday, a new ambiguous threat targeting Naperville high schools surfaced on Snapchat, according to the Naperville Sun.
"We do have to take every one of these threats as a serious, credible threat to the safety of our students and staff," Bridges said to the school board.
Naperville Central, North and Neuqua Valley High Schools all took extra safety precautions as a result of Monday's threat. It's the third time the school day has been disrupted in the past month for students at Naperville North. Joanna Cho is the school's student ambassador to the board.
"A large concern among students is that the high frequency of these events has desensitized us from the seriousness of the threats," she said.
Parents present at the board meeting also expressed concern and some criticized the district's response to these reoccurring threats.
“I’m tired of preparing myself weekly for getting these kinds of messages, usually from my student first before being notified by the school or district,” parent Allison Childs told the Naperville Sun.
“(I’m concerned that) whether the kids exhibit signs now or down the road, these incidents will have an impact on their social and emotional well being.”
Bridges vowed to pursue further information and investigation into the matter.
"We will seek justice on each one of these cases as these events unfold," he said.
