
(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Police were looking for a driver after deadly hit-and-run in Joliet about 9:30 p.m. Saturday. On Sunday, thanks to a call from Will County Sheriff's Police, police were able to located the suspect vehicle.
Joliet Police say the 62-year-old man was found lying on the sidewalk near the intersection of 4th Avenue and Chicago Street after getting hit by a silver sedan while crossing the street.
He was rushed to Ascension Saint Joseph Hospital with critical injuries but died.
Joliet Police say surveillance footage shows the silver sedan traveling at a high rate of speed, and hitting the man.
The vehicle was found unoccupied. Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
Joliet Police are asking that anyone with information about the incident or video of the crash to call the police department of traffic unit at 815-724-3010.
