(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — An autopsy will take place Thursday on a Mount Prospect boy who was shot last week.

Damian Hernandez, 15, was initially in critical condition after he was shot at about 5:30 a.m. on Aug. 17 in Palatine. He died Tuesday.

Neighbors in the area of Clear Creek Bay — a cul-de-sac in a residential area — reported hearing multiple shots and a car speeding away.

Hernandez was found wounded a short time later.

A 14-year-old boy was later arrested, and authorities have accused him of being the shooter. Police are also looking for an 18-year-old who they believe was also involved.

Officials have asked anyone with any information to come forward.

It's unclear what led to the shooting.
