CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A series of armed robberies around the University of Chicago has prompted the school to issue a reminder to students about how they can monitor crime in the area.

The University of Chicago said there were four armed robberies last weekend in the neighborhood around the campus. They appeared to have been committed by the same people.

Fortunately, administrators said none of the hold-up victims were physically hurt.

As police continue to investigate the robberies, the University of Chicago said its police officers have stepped up patrols in the area.

The University of Chicago reminded students and their families — especially those fairly new to the Hyde Park and Kenwood areas — that they can sign up for email alerts to be informed about serious crimes in their community.
