(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A traveling exhibit that honors U.S. service members killed in the Vietnam War will spend the next few days in south suburban Chicago Heights.
"The Wall That Heals" is a three-quarter size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington.
T.J. Somer is the supervisor of Bloom Township, who led the efforts to bring the wall to Chicago Heights. He said it’s a powerful and emotional experience.
“I cannot look at it without my eyes welling up with tears,” he said. “You’ve got in excess of 58,000 names of men who died in Vietnam, etched into that wall permanently.”
"The Wall That Heals" will be open to visitors around the clock at Marian Catholic High School from now until 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
