CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) --Chicago Police have issued an alert about a man who’s been robbing people on the streets with an unusual getaway vehicle.
The man has targeted woman at least four times this week and in each robbery, police said he’s driven away in a U-Haul box truck.
The robberies have occurred in Buena Park, Streeterville, Edgewater and Lakeview on the North Side. Each robbery occured near DuSable Lake Shore Drive.
Police said he approaches woman on the street and robs them by force. He’s reportedly not using a gun, but drives off in the U-Haul.
Three of the incidents occurred during the daytime. There have been physical confrontations, but no serious injuries.
Police describe the suspect as an African- American male, 20-30 years of age, wearing black/blue/gray jacket and dark colored jeans.
