ROLLING MEADOWS (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Former Bears kicker Robbie Gould has resigned as head football coach of Rolling Meadows High School after leading the program for one season.

The Mustangs recently finished up a 5-5 season with a loss to St. Charles North in the opening round of the IHSA Class 7A playoffs. Those five wins were a 3 win improvement from the year before.

District officials said the parting of ways was a mutual decision.

“I’m so proud of the progress we’ve made together at Rolling Meadows. Watching these athletes grow not just on the field but as individuals has been an honor,” Gould said in a statement.

The search for a new Mustangs head coach will begin immediately.

Gould, who turns 42 on Friday, retired from the NFL last year. He finished his career with the San Francisco 49ers after spending his first 11 seasons kicking for the Bears. Gould was a member of the 2006 Bears, the franchise’s last squad to compete in the Super Bowl.
