(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — It's been a snowy morning throughout the Chicago area leading to problems on the roads and slippery sidewalks and walkways.
Most Chicago areas ended up to 1 - 3 inches of accumulated snow, although Naperville reported almost four inches.
The National Weather Service reports additional lake effect snow showers are expected across far Northeast Illinois late this morning into the evening, and then across Northwest Indiana tonight.
Drivers should be cautious of slippery spots along smaller roads and streets that have not been treated. Commuters should plan extra time to get to their destination.
AccuWeather Meteorologist Brian Thompson told WBBM that it is expected to be a cold start to the weekend on Saturday.
