ELMHURST, Ill.(WBBM NEWSRADIO) --Some residents in the western suburb of Elmhurst are practicing a lot of patience this weekend. That's because they're under a boil water order.
The precautionary boil order went into effect in a portion of Elmhurst after one lab sample out of 100 failed the required test. New water samples were collected and delivered to an independent laboratory for expedited testing.
The affected area is bound by Butterfield Road on the south, I-294 on the east, the U-P Railroad on the north, and York Street on the west.
Officials say water used for consumption, such as drinking or cooking should be boiled. Boiling isn't necessary for bathing and cleaning.
The order will be lifted as soon as the city receives passing test results.
