(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Bond has been set at $2 million for a 31-year-old South Elgin man accused of fatally stabbing his mother over the weekend.

Police say Michal Wybraniec on Sunday repeatedly stabbed his 53-year-old mother, Beata, in an attack that began inside the home they shared and concluded outside as she attempted to flee.

The younger Wybraniac is charged with first-degree murder and armed violence. A judge on Monday set his bond at $2 million, meaning he would need to post $200,000 to be freed before trial.

Wybraniec’s next court appearance is set for April 26.
