(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Over $14,000 has been raised to help family members cover funeral costs of one of the South Elgin High School students who died in a car crash on Thursday.
Kamorra Campbell, 17, was killed after the Honda Civic in which she was riding crashed into a dump truck in Bartlett. It happened just around the corner from South Elgin High School.
Campbell was one of four students, all teenage girls, who were inside of the Honda when it crashed. One other girl was killed, while two were taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
School District U-46 administrators said a crisis team was sent to the high school following the crash.
“During these moments of sorrow, it’s important that we come together to support one another,” wrote U-46 Supt. Suzanne Johnson in a message to parents and staff.
Campbell’s sister, Je'Kiah Sanders, organized the GoFundMe on Friday to help the family pay for funeral services and burial.
Sanders said her sister's death has taken a toll on the family and that “anything can help.”
