(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The south suburban community of Richton Park is the latest to make a pitch to lure the Chicago Bears and the team’s new stadium.
Village President Rick Reinbold says his community of 13,000 is one of the better options, given that there is 1,000 acres ready for development near I-57.
“Really, we’re only limited by our imaginations on something like this. It could be bigger than L.A., and better,” he said, referring to the new state-of-the-art SoFi Stadium.
“Make no small plans.”
Reinbold made the pitch in a letter to the Chicago Bears and had not yet heard back from the team.
He notes Richton Park is served by the Metra Electric Line.
The suburb joins Arlington Heights, Naperville, Aurora and Waukegan, making a proposal to the team.
The city of Chicago and the Johnson Administration also wants to keep the Bears at their longtime home, Soldier Field. The Bears lease that stadium from the Chicago Park District.
