(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- If you want to beat the stock market...buy sports memorabilia.

The rate of return for sports collectibles can exceed the stock market and then some.

New York-based sports memorabilia expert Stephen Fishler told the noon business hour that soccer and basketball have a worldwide following, which means more people want to bid on rare pieces of sports memorabilia.

"I think there is the need to have a piece of these legendary sports figures," he said.
