(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A movie theater in Rogers Park has closed down after more than a century.
The New 400 Theater on the 6700 block of North Sheridan has struggled following the COVID pandemic but recently got a boost from showings of "Barbie" before abruptly closing this week.
The New 400's manager, Bella Tornou, told WBBM Newsradio the facility will hold private events through the end of the year and there may be a sliver of hope movies could come back in 2024.
A small sign on the locked door reads: "We are currently closed, but will host regular private events, please email us."
