(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A popular, long-running west suburban festival is back this weekend, after a year off during the pandemic.

The 72nd Annual Swedish Days festival will be two days shorter than usual, from six days to dour, said Laura Rush, communications manager for the Geneva Chamber of Commerce.

It’s also a little more spread out on private property because organizers weren’t sure how much public property would be available when they were planning early this year. There are also six food vendors instead of the usual 15 to 20.

“We weren’t really sure where the state was going to be and what the city was going to allow us to do when we started planning,” Rush said.

Not everything will in downtown Geneva. For instance, a day of live music called “Dala-Palooza” will be at Kane County Cougars Stadium.

Rush said, true to the festival’s name, there will be a Swedish flair to many events.

It runs through Sunday.
