(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- One of the top Republican Lawmakers in Illinois says taxpayers may eventually feel the sting of some things left OUT of the new State Budget that was approved by the Democrat-dominated General Assembly.

Republican leader Tony McCombie said there are good things in the budget like the increases in education funding Governor Pritzker has been talking about while touring the state.

However, she said the budget does not take into account things like the cost of a new American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees
contract being negotiated or how much money will be needed to care for migrants and she said that could hit Illinois taxpayers.

"If our population continues to decrease, so if our tax base continues to decrease in Illinois, there's nothing to be done but raise the tax rate."

McCombie fears that Governor JB Pritzker will take another stab at winning approval for the graduated income tax that failed before.
