Teen charged in last month's red light crash that killed 45-year-old woman

ELK GROVE VILLAGE (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Charges have been filed after a deadly crash in Elk Grove Village last month.

It happened on May 28, at around 11:30 p.m., at Meachem and Biesterfield Roads. Police said a teenage driver in a Lexus was speeding with no headlights on when they blew a red light and collided with another vehicle, a Honda, in the intersection.

The driver of that car, 45-year-old Andrea Garcia of Des Plaines, died as a result of the crash. The teenage driver and their passengers, described as an adult and two juveniles, suffered minor injuries.

The young driver, whose name has not been released, has now been hit with several charges, including reckless homicide, aggravated speeding and unlawful concealment of registration.
