CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The family of a teen who’s now in a coma after a Wicker Park hit-and- run last week is asking for help in bringing charges against the driver.

Relatives said Nakari Campbell is in a medically-induced coma after suffering brain damage and a broken neck and ribs. The 17-year-old was crossing the street at Division and Ashland at around 10:30 p.m. last Friday when police say a 2008 red Mercedes hit her and drove off.

Anthony Hargrove told CBS 2 his niece’s braids got caught and the car dragged her and "there is a long road to recovery."

There have been no arrests so far despite police saying the car had an Illinois license plate DC-600-12. Chicago Police said they are still investigating.
