CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Liquor stores were once again the target in three Northwest Side armed robberies that took place Monday night in a span of 40 minutes along a stretch of Damen Avenue, Chicago police said.
The first was at Mr. P Beverage Depot, located just north of Division Street at about 8:45 p.m. Officials said the thieves then hit Before You Go Liquor, on Fullerton Avenue, before robbing the Clybourn Market near Diversey Parkway.
Police said four men in hoodies showed semi-automatic guns and revolvers and said to employees: "Give me everything. Don't move or I'll shoot."
The robbers then took cash from registers or safes. In one case, police said the robbers forced a victim to withdraw money from an ATM.
Two employees were hit in the face but refused treatment. No one is in custody.
Chicago police data showed that armed robberies jumped 23% from 2022 to 2023, with 11,051 armed robberies committed across the city in 2023.
