Tiger Woods golf course in Jackson Park 'stuck in the rough'

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) --The Obama Presidential Center isn't the only South Side project that's stuck in the rough.

After a long legal process, work is now underway on the Obama Presidential Center in Jackson Park. But, another plan for Jackson Park appears to be stalled.

In 2018, TGR Design, the golf course design company owned by Tiger Woods, announced that it would design the South Shore and Jackson Park golf courses.

The Sun-Times reported the golf course proposal was hit by a number of circumstances. There was a change in the Mayor's office, the wrangling over the Obama Presidential Center dragged on, and the COVID pandemic slowed down fundraising.

Supporters hope the start of work on the Obama Presidential Center will shine light on the golf course plan.
