Tuberculosis reported at west suburban university

ELMHURST (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - DuPage County health officials are investigating reported cases of tuberculosis at an area college.

The tuberculosis cases were reported Thursday at Elmhurst University. The school's president said in a statement the two students who tested positive for the contagious and life-threatening disease have been isolated and are under medical supervision.

The school is working to identify those who may have been in close contact with the two infected students.

Tuberculosis or TB is usually known to impact the lungs. It can be spread through the air.

Symptoms include cough, fever, fatigue and unexplained weight loss.
